Kacper Werema

Head of Engineering at Oaasis. Took a €4.9M-funded startup from 0 to 1 — leading a team of eight (and growing) to build the go-to supply chain planning platform for €30–60M consumer goods companies, now expanding into enterprise.

Currently

As Head of Engineering at Oaasis — a €4.9M-funded startup — I've taken the company from 0 to 1: building the engineering team, the technical foundations, and the product itself in one of the hardest domains there is, supply chain planning. I lead a team of eight, own the engineering department end to end, and keep delivery fast, the team motivated, and every release tied to real business value.

We've made the product the go-to supply chain planning solution for €30–60M-revenue consumer goods companies, and we're now winning enterprise clients far larger — including accounts with €80M and €200M in revenue. I keep us on the frontier of AI tooling in our day-to-day workflow, and I stay hands-on across the full stack — a NestJS API, a React design system, and Rust services for optimization, forecasting, and data ingestion — as the platform's most prolific contributor with over 1,300 commits.

What I've built

  • Took Oaasis from 0 to 1 — building the engineering team, technical foundations, and product as Head of Engineering at a €4.9M-funded startup.
  • Built the go-to supply chain planning solution for the core segment: consumer goods companies in the €30–60M revenue range.
  • Expanded upmarket with enterprise wins well beyond the core segment, landing clients with revenues up to €200M.
  • Shipped a production-grade product in a genuinely complex domain — supply chain optimization, forecasting, inventory, and constrained allocation.
  • Lead and set direction for a team of eight, driving high delivery, an AI-first workflow, team morale, and business value.
  • Hands-on across the full TypeScript + Rust stack as the codebase's top contributor (1,300+ commits).

Track record

  • Santander Nordic — Designed quality processes that cut release cycles from 4 months to 6 weeks; built test-automation foundations across 6 teams (28 engineers).
  • Swoop Funding — Scaled the platform from 0 to 50k+ businesses, led the monolith → microservices and multi-tenant migration that secured a £5M grant.
  • Staff Bit — Co-founded and led as CTO to a successful exit; ran enterprise transformations for clients including Santander and Zara.
  • Euvic — Built architecture serving 2M daily users at 99.9% availability and opened a new subsidiary.

How I think

I'm a systems thinker who's relentlessly business-value-oriented. Technical complexity isn't a selling point — ROI, leverage and reliability are. I favour right-sized solutions over both over-engineering and fragility, and I believe quality is a team effort, not a gate at the end.

I created P.I.R.A.T.E.S., a framework for evaluating and advancing quality maturity in engineering organisations, and I facilitate CTO mastermind sessions — because the top is lonely, and the right peer conversation changes decisions.

Stack

TypeScript / NestJS, React, Rust, C#/.NET, Python, Azure, AWS — and AI agents and automation wherever they create real leverage.

Beyond work

Based in Poland, married with two small kids — family comes first. Outside of that: golf, board games, Dungeons & Dragons, and writing about engineering, leadership and living deliberately on my newsletter.
